You have planned Rotax Senior practice at Silverstone. The numbers on the tyre and gearing screens look sensible, but your gut says the kart will be loose on a cool morning. You want to ask a plain question, such as "Should I run softer tyres?", and get an answer about this session.
Before you start
- An account on Pro with AI. On a lower plan, the chat says: "The AI Race Engineer is part of Pro with AI. Your plan doesn't include it yet — everything else here keeps working." Tap See plans to compare plans.
- AI features turned on. If they are off, the Turn on AI features? dialog appears when you ask. See the related guide on turning AI features on or off.
- A planned session for the track and date you are asking about.
- A signal. The AI needs a connection to answer.
- Fair use is 150 asks a day.
Make the session active
- Open the Sessions tab (the second icon in the bottom bar).
- Under PLANNED SESSIONS, tap the session you want to ask about. The app makes it the active session and opens the Intelligence tab (the spanner icon; its title bar reads Mechanic). A red-edged banner at the top shows the track, date, time and session type.
Ask your question
- On the main screen of the Intelligence tab, tap AI Race Engineer. The button only shows when a session is active, and only on the tab's main screen. If you have opened a module such as Tyres, go back first.
- Check the header. Scope · this session means the answer only uses this session's track, weather, tyres, gear and setup. Questions about anything else are refused.
- Tap one of the Try asking suggestions, or type your own question:
- Why this setup?
- What's the main risk this session?
- Should I run softer tyres?
- Read the answer, and ask follow-up questions in the same chat.
Tip: Short, specific questions get the most useful answers. "Why is the rear pressure higher than the front?" is better than "Is my kart right?"
Get an AI insight on a single screen
You can also ask for an AI view of one screen without opening the chat.
- On the Intelligence tab, open Tyres, Gear Strategy, Track Grip, Ballast or Setup. Weather does not have one.
- Scroll to the card AI insight for this session at the bottom.
- Tap Generate AI insight. Nothing is generated until you ask. The card then shows a summary with key points.
- To get a fresh answer later, for example after the forecast changes, tap the Regenerate icon.
Reading the result
- The answer uses the same session data you see on the engineering screens. It explains or questions those numbers; it does not replace them.
- "Unable to determine from current data." means the session does not hold enough information to answer. Check that your kart, setup and the session details are filled in, then ask again.
- Under every answer you will see: "Answers are AI-generated and may not always be accurate. Verify before acting on track."
- If you see "Couldn't reach the AI engineer. Try again.", check your signal and send the question again.
Good to know: AI can be wrong. Any change you make to tyres, pressures, gearing or setup is your decision. Check it yourself, or with your mechanic, before the kart goes out. Never use the app while driving.
Report an answer that looks wrong
- Under the answer or insight, tap Report.
- Choose a reason: Wrong, Unsafe, Offensive or Other.
- Add a comment if you want to explain. The answer you are reporting is sent with your report.
- Tap Send. You see "Thanks, we'll review it." There is a daily limit on reports. If you reach it, try again tomorrow.
Do it on the web portal
On the portal, the chat sits on the Intelligence and Lab pages under Race Engineering.
- In the left sidebar, open Race Engineering > Intelligence and choose your session under Pick a session to engineer.
- Click the floating AI Race Engineer button. The panel is titled Ask about this session.
- Click a quick question (Why this setup?, What should I change?, Is this safe? or What if grip increases?), or type your own.
- Click Send.
Your earlier questions for that session load when you first open the panel. Each answer has a Report link that works the same way as in the app.
