Create your account and sign in

Create your AVB RaceLabs account, answer the age and Terms step, and turn on biometric sign-in so you stay signed in at circuits with poor signal.

You have just downloaded AVB RaceLabs, or your team manager has asked you to get it before the next round. You want an account set up properly at home, with the age and Terms step done. You also want signing in to be quick at a circuit where the signal drops out behind the awning.

Before you start

  • The AVB RaceLabs app installed on your phone.
  • An email address you can get to, or a Google, Apple or Facebook account you already use.
  • A connection for this first sign-in. Do it at home, not in the paddock.
  • If you are 13 to 17, a parent or guardian nearby to read the Terms with you.

Create your account

  1. Open the app. You see Sign in to AVB RaceLabs.
  2. At the bottom of the screen, next to New here?, tap Create an account. A secure sign-up page opens in your browser. Your email and password are entered there, not in the app.
  3. Enter your email address and choose a password, then follow the page through.
  4. You come back to the app automatically when it is done.

If you would rather not use a password, tap Continue with Google, Continue with Apple or Continue with Facebook under or continue with instead. This uses the account you already have with that service.

Sign in next time

  1. Tap Sign in.
  2. Enter your email and password on the sign-in page that opens in your browser.
  3. If you have forgotten your password, use the password reset option on that page and follow the email you receive.

Tip: If you signed up with Google, Apple or Facebook, always sign in the same way. Choosing a different option may not find your existing account.

Answer the "Before you start" step

After your first sign-in the app shows Before you start. You cannot use the app until it is done.

  1. Under How old are you?, choose Under 13, 13 to 17 or 18 or over.
  2. If you chose 13 to 17, your parent or guardian reads the Terms. Then tick My parent or guardian has read and agrees to the Terms.
  3. Tick I accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Links to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy sit just below, so you can read them first.
  4. Tap Continue. The button only works once the boxes your age group needs are ticked.

If you chose Under 13, the app explains that accounts are for 13 and over and that a parent or guardian can add a young driver to their own account. The only option is Sign out.

Good to know: If the Terms of Service or Privacy Policy change later, this step comes back the next time you sign in. Read the update, tick the box again and carry on. If the app says the Terms have been updated since this version of the app, update AVB RaceLabs from your app store first.

What happens next

The order after sign-in is always the same:

  1. The Before you start step, if you have not accepted the current Terms.
  2. The setup wizard, if your profile is not complete. See Set up your profile and first kart.
  3. The biometric offer, if your phone supports Face ID or fingerprint.
  4. The app itself.

Turn on biometric sign-in

When the app offers Sign in faster next time, tap Enable and confirm with your face or fingerprint.

From then on, the sign-in screen shows an extra button, such as Sign in with Face ID, under Sign in. It also keeps you signed in at a circuit with no reception, which is exactly where you need it.

If you tapped Not now, you can switch it on later:

  1. On the Home tab, tap the person icon (Profile & settings).
  2. Scroll to PREFERENCES.
  3. Turn on Biometric sign-in.

Tip: Set up biometrics at home before race weekend. Doing it for the first time on a circuit with no signal will not work.

Do it on the web portal

The web portal at portal.avbracelabs.com uses the same account. You do not need to sign up twice.

  1. Go to the portal and sign in the same way you do in the app.
  2. If you have not answered it yet, the portal shows the same Before you start age and Terms questions before any page. Answer them and select Continue.
  3. You stay signed in for 14 days, and that period renews while you keep using the portal.

Most of the web portal is part of the Premium and Pro with AI plans. On Free you can still open your profile, the plans page and your team's pages; everything else is in the mobile app. See Choose the right plan for what each plan includes.
