You're heading to a circuit you've never raced next weekend. Before you load the van, you want the session in your planner so the weather, tyre pressures, gearing and ballast advice are all worked out for that track, on that date, at that time. It takes about a minute.
Before you start
- An AVB RaceLabs account, signed in on the app.
- Your kart set up in your profile. The engineering advice needs a kart and a saved setup.
- A connection, so the track list can load.
- Roughly when you expect to run. You can change the details later.
Steps
- Open the Sessions tab (the second icon along the bottom bar).
- Under PLANNER, find the card Plan your next session.
- Tap Pick a track. The Select track screen opens.
- Narrow the list with the Country dropdown (it starts on All countries), or type in Search track name. The counter shows how many tracks match, for example "12 of 240 tracks".
- Tap the track you're going to. Tap its star first if you'll be back often: favourites sort to the top of the list.
- Back on the planner, check the track name. If you picked the wrong one, tap Change.
- Set the Date.
- Set the Start time. It starts at 10:00.
- Set the Duration (min). It starts at 7. Tap Pick a preset for 7, 15, 20, 30, 45, 60, 90 or 120 minutes.
- Choose the Type: FreeDrive, Practice, Qualifying, Race, Training, Testing, SetupWork or Other.
- Enter your Kart number. The app fills it in from your last session that had one.
- Choose the Driving direction: Track default, Clockwise or Anticlockwise. Use Track default unless the circuit is running the reverse layout that day.
- Add anything useful in Notes (optional), such as "first visit, walk the track Friday".
- Tap Save session. You'll see "Planned [track] on [date]".
If you see "Pick a track first", you've filled in the details but not chosen a track. Go back to step 3.
Tip: Plan each session of the day separately: practice, qualifying, heats and final. Each one gets its own weather window and its own debrief afterwards.
Make it the active session
Planning a session stores it. To see the advice for it, make it active.
- Scroll down to PLANNED SESSIONS.
- Tap the session's card. The app switches to the Intelligence tab (its title bar reads Mechanic). Every module now shows a red banner with the track, date, start time, duration, type and kart number, so you always know which session the numbers are for.
- Open Weather, Tyres, Gear Strategy, Track Grip, Ballast or Setup to see the advice for that session.
To switch to a different session, go back to Sessions and tap another card.
Good to know: The engineering modules need a Premium or Pro with AI plan. Planning sessions works on every plan.
Reading the result
Once a session is saved you'll find it in three places:
- Home: under TODAY'S SESSIONS on the day, and under PLANNED TRACKS before then.
- Calendar tab: on the session's date, marked as a planned session.
- Sessions tab: under PLANNED SESSIONS.
Weather is the starting point for most of the advice. Forecasts only reach so far ahead. If your session is beyond that range, the Weather module says "Too far out to predict", and nothing is calculated for the session yet. Check again closer to the day: hourly detail arrives about 48 hours before.
Tidy up your planner
Each card under PLANNED SESSIONS has two small icons:
- The archive icon (Archive) hides a session you no longer need but want to keep. Tap the Show archived chip to see archived sessions again.
- The bin icon deletes it for good. You'll be asked "Delete planned session?" and must tap Delete before anything is removed.
Tip: After the session, log your hot pressures in the debrief. That is what makes the next plan at this track more accurate.
Do it on the web portal
The portal is handy for planning a weekend from home on a bigger screen. It needs a Premium or Pro with AI plan.
- In the left sidebar, open Sessions > Planner.
- Move to the right day with Previous, Today and Next.
- Click Add Session and fill in the session type, start time, duration, track, kart number, driving direction and notes.
- Click Save Session.
On race day, Sessions > Today has a quicker form. Pick the Session Type, Start Time, Duration (min), Track, Kart, Setup and Tyre Set. Open More options for the date, kart number, driving direction and notes. Click Start Session to make it active and go straight to its engineering page.
Sessions > Calendar shows your planned sessions month by month. Click a day to open it in the planner.
Sessions you plan on the portal appear in the app too, and the other way round.
