You're in the awning with the pressure gauge, and the session is coming up. Set the tyres too high and they overshoot the hot window halfway through. Set them too low and the kart is lazy for the first few laps. The Tyres module gives you a cold starting pressure for each corner, based on the track, the weather and the tyres you have fitted.
Before you start
- A Premium or Pro with AI plan.
- Your kart and a saved setup in your profile, including the engine side. The engine side is one of the things that decides how the pressures split left to right.
- An active session. In the Sessions tab, tap your session under PLANNED SESSIONS.
- A reliable pressure gauge, and tyres that have been sitting out of the sun.
Get your cold pressures
- With the session active, open the Intelligence tab and tap Tyres.
- Check the TYRE ANALYSIS pills along the top. They show the Compound, Track condition and Grip the advice is based on.
- Read PRESSURE ADVICE · CURRENT TYRES:
- COLD FRONT: the pressure to set on the front tyres.
- COLD REAR: the pressure to set on the rear tyres.
- TARGET HOT: where the tyres should end up once they're working.
- If your left and right tyres need different pressures, a Per-corner cold pressures grid appears with LF, RF, LR and RR. The reason is given under Why these pressures in the ADVICE text below.
- If you've warmed the tyres before the session, tick Tyres pre-warmed. The cold figures are worked out again slightly lower, with a note saying by how much, so the set doesn't reach the hot window too early.
- Set each tyre to its cold figure with your gauge.
The advice reads: "Start the session with these cold pressures. Tyres should move toward the target hot pressure after several laps."
Tip: Set pressures with the tyres at the temperature they'll be in when the kart goes out. A tyre that's been sitting in the sun will read higher than it really is.
Tune it to your experience
Near the top of the Intelligence tab, the DRIVER EXPERIENCE card changes how much margin the pressure advice allows. Choose your level from Experience level, then tap Apply. Pick the level that matches your racing today, not where you hope to be.
Reading the rest of the screen
- TYRE STRATEGY RANKING: compares the tyre options for the conditions. Each row is Recommended or Alternative, with Suitability, Lap Impact in seconds and a Low Risk, Medium Risk or High Risk chip. If the tyres you've fitted don't match the recommended option, the pressures are still worked out for what's fitted.
- RISK PROFILE: Overheat Risk and Pressure Penalty for these conditions.
- PRESSURE ASSESSMENT: compares the Measured hot pressure from your last debrief with the AVB hot target. It tells you whether you finished In the target window, Above the target window or Below the target window. Until you've recorded hot pressures it shows "Hot pressure not measured".
- TYRE WEAR: Life remaining on the set, based on the laps and heat cycles you've logged.
- ENGINEERING BASIS: every input used, including track temperature, ambient temperature, humidity, rain probability and grip level. Check it if a number looks wrong.
Good to know: This is advice only, and it does not change your saved setup. Pressures are your decision. Check them with your own gauge, and change them if the kart tells you otherwise.
Close the loop after the session
The cold figure is a starting point. It gets better when the app knows what your tyres actually did. As soon as the kart is back in the pits, measure the hot pressures and enter them in the session debrief. The next time you open Tyres, the PRESSURE ASSESSMENT card shows whether you hit the window. See Debrief a session in 30 seconds.
Keep a pressure log (any plan)
The Tyre Pressures calculator in the Pit Kit is a simple cold-to-hot log for each corner. It works offline, on every plan, with no limit.
- On Home, tap the PIT KIT card.
- Under Calculators, tap Tyre Pressures.
- Tap Session to start a new log. Fill in Track / session and Tyre set. Your active tyre sets from the Tyre Sets tool appear as quick picks under Tyre set.
- Enter the Cold (set) and Hot (off track) pressures for each corner, plus Ambient temp (°C, optional) if you know it.
- Tap Save log. The rise from cold to hot is worked out for each corner.
A consistent rise from session to session is how you find the cold setting that works for you.
Tip: Use the log alongside the Tyres module: the module gives you a starting point, and the log shows how your tyres actually behaved.
Do it on the web portal
- In the left sidebar, open Race Engineering > Intelligence.
- Under Pick a session to engineer, choose your session.
- On the engineering page that opens, find the Pressure Advice (Current Tyres) tile.
The DRIVER EXPERIENCE selector and Apply button work the same way as in the app.
