Weight & Ballast answers the scrutineering question: how much lead does the kart need to make the class minimum? Enter the driver's weight in kit, the kart's weight and the class minimum. The tool adds driver and kart together, compares the total with the minimum and shows either "Lead to add" or "Over the minimum by", to a tenth of a kilo.

A status pill sums it up. If you are under, it says "Bolt it on — never cable-tie lead". Up to 2 kg over shows "On weight — nice", and anything more is "Comfortably over". Class minimum presets save typing: Bambino 75 kg, Cadet 103 kg, Junior X30 and Junior Rotax 148 kg, Senior X30 162 kg, Senior Rotax 165 kg and KZ2 175 kg. These are common UK figures to start from, and the app reminds you that your championship regulations are the authority.

The second half is a weigh-in log. Tap "Log today's driver weight" and the reading is saved with today's date. The history lists every weigh-in with the change since the previous one, so for a growing junior you can see how quickly they are heading for the next class boundary. When you reopen the tool, the most recent logged weight is filled into the driver field, and any weigh-in can be deleted.

Everything is stored on the phone and works offline. There is no cap on Free. Premium adds PitSync cloud backup for the weigh-in history.

Questions

How do I work out how much ballast my kart needs?
Add the driver's weight in full kit to the kart's weight and subtract that from the class minimum. If the result is positive, that is the lead to add. Weight & Ballast does the sum and shows the answer to 0.1 kg.
What is the minimum weight for Cadet or Junior karts?
The tool's presets use common UK figures: Bambino 75 kg, Cadet 103 kg, Junior X30 and Junior Rotax 148 kg. Your championship regulations are the authority, so check them and type the correct figure if it differs.
Can I track a junior driver's weight over a season?
Yes. Log each weigh-in and the history shows every reading with the change since the previous one, so you can see how close the driver is to the next class boundary.
