Scrutineering Check is a kart scrutineering checklist that lives on your phone. It is the technical walk you do in the awning before the kart goes anywhere near the scrutineering bay: 21 checks in two sections, Safety-critical and Bodywork & compliance. It covers a firm brake pedal with pad material left, the throttle returning freely on both return springs, all four wheel nuts torqued, steering play and track-rod ends, ballast bolted through with washers (never cable-tied), kill switch and brake-cable retention, brake fluid and lines, chain tension, split pins and safety wire, sharp edges, tyres, bumpers and side pods, number plates, fuel leaks, the chain guard, the seat, helmet standard and kit-check readiness, the fuel tank and cap, neck brace and driver kit in date, and the transponder mount.
Why do it before the real thing? A fail at the bay means a queue, a rushed fix and a second queue, often with the session clock running. Five minutes with the list in the awning catches the loose nut or the missing split pin while you still have the time and the tools to hand.
Fourteen items carry a red critical flag. A live GO / NO-GO pill and progress bar sit at the top, and the pill only reads GO when every critical item is ticked. The transponder line is checked but never fails a run, because it is timing, not safety.
Name the run after the meeting and save it. Each saved run keeps the date, the ticked count and whether it was GO, so you build a dated record that the checks were done. Leave mid-check to fetch a spanner and your ticks are kept. It all runs offline on the phone. It is a preparation aid only: the club scrutineer's decision is always final.
